Milestones in engine technology
Environmental zones and driving bans, soaring diesel prices and increasing road tolls are currently having a serious impact on the transport industry. As a manufacturer of commercial vehicles and partner to our customers, we must find answers to these challenges.
Good examples of such solutions are the new MAN D08 Common Rail and D20/D26 CR series of engines to meet the Euro 5 and/or EEV emissions standards. These so-called EGR engines are technical masterpieces: highly efficient and very powerful, they work extremely reliably and quietly. The other piece of good news for our customers is that these engines meet the stringent emissions standards without the need for costly after-treatment of exhaust gases and without additives. They will be presented at the IAA Commercial Vehicles 2008.
MAN is therefore the only manufacturer of commercial vehicles in Europe that has Euro 5/EEV engines for lightweight and medium-weight commercial vehicles and coaches in their product range, which do not require AdBlue® and which thus fully exploit their handling and payload advantages.
This choice is yours
As the customer, in the TGX and TGS heavy truck series in future you will have the choice of either new, efficient Euro 5 AGR engines without additives with a specification from 320 to 480 HP or SCR technology with MAN AdBlue® equipped with powerful engines ranging from 480 to 540 HP.
More demanding EEV standard
MAN is topping this too: it has expanded the engine program to include models which comply with the ambitious EEV standard (=Enhanced Environmentally Friendly Vehicles); in the case of the series MAN TGL and TGM as well as all MAN and NEOPLAN busses even without the use of additives. SCR engines are the technical basis for the EEV models for the truck series MAN TGS and TGX.
