Extra traction for special situations
MAN HydroDrive® is the ideal drive system for vehicles used occasionally off-road or in situations where additional traction on the front axle is needed.
Vehicles with MAN HydroDrive® are thus primarily on-road vehicles, but with hydrostatic front-wheel drive their deployment spectrum is broadened .
Some typical situations for use of MAN HydroDrive® would be:
- unmetalled roads such as dirt tracks and construction sites
- slippery conditions such as mud, ice and snow
- hilly routes
More traction quickly to hand.
The hydrostatic front-axle drive can be engaged via the rotary switch for the differential locks even while the vehicle is in motion and the engine under load. From a speed of about 30 km/h, it switches itself off automatically and comes on again automatically if the speed falls below 22 km/h. If MAN HydroDrive® is active, a check lamp in the central display comes on to inform the driver.
