MAN – Gets aid moving.
A long-term global partnership between MAN Nutzfahrzeuge and SOS Kinderdorf International has been established in August 2008 to comprehensively promote the development of a training centre in Ethiopia.
The Vocational Training College (VTC) in Kality, Ethiopia is an education and training facility founded by SOS Kinderdorf International. Disadvantaged young people receive instruction at this facility in general mechanical engineering, vehicle engineering and woodworking. The training centre is now due to expand with the support of MAN Nutzfahrzeuge with the purpose of expanding the automotive training section and deepening its knowledge.
MAN and SOS Children's Villages make joint investment in Ethiopia's future
Due to its commitment in Ethiopia, one of the poorest countries in the world, MAN Nutzfahrzeuge is actively helping young people in need to improve their lives on a sustainable basis.
When making the decision to support the VTC, it was highly important for MAN Nutzfahrzeuge to not only help the young people by constructing further college buildings. It is also particularly necessary to provide tools and exhibits for training purposes as well as regularly pass on technical knowledge. This approach adopted by MAN Nutzfahrzeuge aims to provide the students with more in-depth qualifications in the area of commercial vehicles and therefore considerably enhance their job prospects in this promising work environment.
By providing continuous training sessions for the teachers and trainers of the VTC in the area of truck knowledge, MAN Nutzfahrzeuge is laying the foundation for knowledge acquired to be imparted to the students independently, thus underpinning the sustainability of the support provided and long-term effect of social commitment.
