Responsibility for the future
The MAN Group is a large organisation working on economic principles and can fulfil its responsibility only if this responsibility is based on sound entrepreneurial work. This applies to all subsidiaries in the Group. What we do is not about making a quick profit but about satisfying the needs and wishes of our customers, owners and staff – and ultimately of society at large – in the long term.
The criteria for sustained economic growth have changed in the last few years. As a result of the noticeable ecological changes, globalisation and the demands of the capital markets the sphere in which modern companies operate as they seek to create economic values while at the same time wanting to safeguard nature and their social environment are now coming more and more into DIPS focus.
What is "sustainability"?
Sustainability is a term that originated in the field of forestry but has now been accepted in the economic and corporate sector too.
At the World Climate Conference in Rio de Janeiro (1992) the term sustainability gained an economic and a social aspect in addition to its ecological background.
The economic view demands that in the long term the maximum possible effect should be achieved with the minimum of resources. The social view says that people should use their knowledge and skills in order to shape global togetherness so that subsequent generations will find suitable conditions in which to live.
