INVENT research project for road safety
The research initiative
INVENT
(the German abbreviation means "Intelligent transport and user-orientated technology") meant four years of intensive research work by German companies and institutes, including MAN. The project was all about
safety
and traffic flow. One emphasis of MAN's research was the ongoing development of driver assistance systems.
We develop sophisticated high-IT assistance systems which help to avoid serious accidents involving trucks. The advantages of such systems have also been backed up by a scientific
study
carried out by Allianz Zentrum für Technik and the MAN Nutzfahrzeuge Group.
Scientific drive simulation – for safe drivers
Development engineers at the MAN Nutzfahrzeuge Group and scientists from the Technical University of Munich are investigating the interaction between driver and vehicle at the university's Department of Vehicle Engineering. Using a
ride simulator
the researchers examine the effects of widely differing driving situations on the driver. He should be able to keep his vehicle easily under control and devote his entire attention to the traffic situation – that makes things safer for all road users.
