MAN Logistics – an overview
Division Heavy Trucks covers amongst others the logistics for our Business Unit "Heavy Range". The Heavy Range is made up of trucks from 16 to 60 t; these are built at our plants in Munich and Salzgitter. In addition to this we build major components such as driven front and rear axles, transfer cases, frame attachments and other parts for assembly.  
  • deals with the logistical aspects of the development of parts, components and systems
  • plans the resources (areas, investments, personnel, costs)for logistical processes before series production begins
  • supervises logistics processes once series production begins.
  • is responsible for all operative aspects of supplier logistics and supplier quality
  • is in turn subdivided into three sections: Pre-series, Series and Support
  • is responsible on a project basis for all quality and scheduling aspects of components to go into production; here it cooperates closely with Logistics Planning (Pre-series)
  • is responsible for all quality and scheduling aspects of series deliveries (Series); this is done in a supplier-orientated way
  • is also responsible for the internal steering of our production and assembly sections.
  • is responsible for goods inward and otuward
  • runs all stores
  • takes over minor value-added activities as a service for Production
  • organises the supply to Production right up to the point at which the parts are installed and deals with empty containers.
