150 Years Diesel
Diesel engines: yesterday - today - tomorrow
The 150th anniversary of the birthday of the amazing inventor Rudolf Diesel is on the 18th March 2008. Diesel developed the first engine at MAN around 111 years ago that changed the world and carries his name to the present day.
His invention changed the course of history of motor vehicles: Rudolf Diesel's engine mobilised the world and made international trade in the form we know it today possible.
MAN Nutzfahrzeuge has been using this technology as the basis for the development of its trucks and buses since time immemorial. Since its invention, this engine technology has been subject to continuous optimisation, e.g. using the CommonRail technology or exhaust-gas recirculation. Nowadays, MAN engines are among the most progressive ones available on the market.
Diesel engines are economical, guarantee a high power output and are becoming increasingly kinder to the environment. This is why MAN Nutzfahrzeuge considers the diesel engine to be the engine of the future.
